Somehow, already, another week. (Also, happy November?? Time is a lie). A short one today – I took a sick day on Wednesday, and with temperatures dipping for the first time this season (I’m in Texas) I already want to hibernate until spring… :ohno:

• A spooky tale: The Headingless Horseman (Scott O’Hara) - Halloween 2021 is past (RIP), but I just couldn’t resist sharing this one. A fun spooky mini story web/fiction mashup.
• What is decoupling, actually? (Cassidy Williams (and team)) - Some Netlifolks had a conversation in Slack, clarifying what “decoupling” in web architecture means. Too good not to share, Cassidy copypasta’d it as a blog post. If you’re not all too sure what “decoupling” means (and at this point, you’re afraid to ask), this might be a good one for you.
• HTMHell special: tasty buttons (Manuel Matuzović) - Another gem from Manuel’s “HTMHell” series (“a collection of bad practices in HTML, copied from real websites”). Manuel chews through way too many “hamburger menu” implementations (not sorry for that pun at all), with commentary on how to improve them, and solutions to wrap it all up.

• In my quest to finish the Wheel of Time series, I have now finished The Dragon Reborn, and am now a whole 68 pages into the fourth book, The Shadow Rising. The first three episodes of the TV series adaptation drop on November 19th – fingers crossed they’ve done a good job with it. If you’re a fantasy fan, you may be interested in checking it out.
