This is for the Creativity Fiends, Y'all
Hi Everyone,
Hope this newsletter finds you in a good place, and if not, I hope it gets better soon. 💖
I keep forgetting to monetize these little babies with one advert at the end from Swapstack. So, I'm incorporating that today, along with a new feature from Swapstack, A Tip Jar.
You can tip $1-$10. As I continue getting my writing career off the ground, your support helps me flourish. Support ranges from a kind comment, reading my work, and yes, monetary support. If you feel aligned to do so, here's the link: https://app.swapstack.co/tips/aimes-writing-shenanigans
I'm rebranding myself a Creativity Fiend. What do I mean by this? I mean it's part of my mission to support other creatives, in a devilishly fun way, in a free-spirited way, in a playful way, and in a way that protects ourselves. Fiends can be fun and know how to set boundaries and see through BS. Won't you join me?

As my health continues to be challenging, I've been revising some of my older work, including academic papers. I didn't think they'd get much response on Medium, but they've been fairly well received. Here's one of them.
Shakespeare implicates the audience in the graveyard scene by inviting us to spy on the Clowns and then on Hamlet and Horatio as they spy on the Clowns. To carry the spying sentiment even further, we are titillated when Hamlet goes undercover to grill the Clown for intel on Hamlet. Because we know what Hamlet is up to, we are involved in the deception. This appeals to our sense of voyeurism as well as the adrenaline from the danger of deception.

I earned an art history minor in college and am happy to see several art enthusiasts on the platform. Here's a rework of an undergrad essay.
Dali’s The Hallucinogenic Toreador is a busy painting. Likely, viewers’ attention will first be drawn to the positive and negative colors and spaces that form the largest two versions of the Venus de Milo. The painting is a riff on the Roman Colosseum. On the uppermost edge of the painting, we see the entrance to, and seats in, the colosseum. Inhabiting these seats are masses of flies.

The creator of the Hogan Torah persona, an entertainer, satirist, and memoirist, reached out to me for an interview inquiry. What we came up with is better than either of us anticipated.
I’ve revealed so much of myself to the world that it’s getting to the point that there’s not much left unsaid. No matter how much you reveal, people still want more.
Take those poor BTS guys. They can’t piss at a urinal without pictures being taken. They give interview after interview and everything they do in public no matter how mundane is news. They’re just dudes! Talented dudes but people.
I am a deeply flawed human being. While that’s part of my appeal I’d advise not looking too close. Because deep down I am also just some dude. I’ve been backstage. I’d rather watch from the floor. I’d advise doing the same.

April is National Poetry Month. This is a poem I wrote after being triggered in a writing group by my own insecurities. It has hit a chord with many readers.
Envy, no pettier sight —green to my gills when reminded
of a man who made it and I’m stillrolling dough, word putty, publisher
submissions after a 14-year hiatus
from trying to crack the code

Hedgehog Trivia hosts live virtual trivia games for remote teams. These events are designed with challenging but approachable questions to get the entire team interacting and having fun. Our professional hosts are great at entertaining and engaging the whole group and we’ve built our own software to provide a much more immersive experience than Zoom-based trivia games can deliver. We've hosted games with the likes of Google, Facebook & Dropbox and they keep coming back because of the mix of intimate breakout rooms and larger team interaction. More info at www.hedgehogtrivia.com.
"Our company has booked Hedgehog Trivia for four events within the past two months and they HAVE NOT disappointed. Not only are the games interactive, challenging, and have wonderful hosts but booking is made easy by their amazing coordinators. I do not have enough good things to say about Hedgehog Trivia and am grateful for their services - if you haven't tried their pub trivia, you are seriously missing out! Thanks to the entire Hedgehog team, especially Rob - you're the GOAT!"
