Padding

Well well well… Zigtember is in full force and we’re going to have a second episode in the same month! I still want to aim for a monthly cadence, but there’s a lot of stuff going on between announcements, events, etc.

And about events… so the US has just announced that travel from the EU will reopen in “early November”, which is good on one hand, and terribly annoying on the other because we don’t know yet when it will actually be, which is kinda important since Handmade Seattle happens around that time.

For now my plan is to wait a little and see when an official date is announced.

On a separate note, I’ve been wanting to resume my streams on Twitch for a while now, but there are a lot of things that are keeping me busy. I’m sorry for my faithful viewers that wanted to see if I could pull off message deletion in Bork. I hope to come back soon TM. The good news is that if I’m busy, it means that good things are happening at the foundation but, as usual, it’s unwise to talk publicly about stuff before it’s confirmed :^)

Last Episode

Here’s a recap of the talks in the last episode, in case you missed it.

Viewstamped Replication Made Famous (YouTube Link)

With Joran and more guests

The last talk on TigerBeetle ended hinting at a $20k challenge. Unless you hate money and consistent data, you will want to tune in but, before we get there, Joran will bring us on a journey to learn more about Viewstamped Replication, the less-popular sibling of Paxos and Raft. Less popular for now, that is.

This episode will also feature two interviews with Brian Oki and James Cowling, authors of the first and second paper on Viewstamped Replication, respectively.
