VueBLR September Newsletter
Hello Vuedevs,
Welcome to another edition of Vue Bangalore’s newsletter.
From the Local Community
- We had the first large-scale Vue Conference in India! From creating component libraries to using web components, building plugins to understanding reactivity, it left no stone unturned. Recordings can be found here.
- VueBLR’s organizing team is 4-member strong now:
We are excited to announce that @ruphaaganesh is joining the Organizers Team, and she’ll be leading the initiative of reviewing talks and mentoring people. 🎉 A frontend software engineer, Ruphaa is passionate about coding, yoga, and books. Welcome to the other side! 👊
Past Meetup
Our last meetup was lined up with some great talks. Nimit Bhargava demonstrated how to convert your static site to vue app. Then there was a talk straight from VueDay itself where Praveen Puglia talked about understanding vue’s reactivity system by building one. Finally, we had a show & tell session by Dhruv Bhatia sharing his experience of migrating entire project from vanilla js to vue js.
Upcoming Meetup
Our next meetup, codenamed “All Out”, takes place on 28th September.
* Drum Roll * We are shaking things up a bit!
- The venue for the 18th meetup is NIMHANS Convention Centre. Yes, this meetup will run parallel to JSFoo!
- We now have a Code of Conduct in place. We are fully committed to provide a safe environment for everyone in the community, especially for first-time speakers.
- You can voice your opinion on future topics to be covered in our meetups here.
- Talks become monotonous after a while! We want to do experiments with hands-on sessions like writing your first component, building your website / blog with Vue, integrating auth flow, etc. Let us know your preference here.
- From this month’s meetup onwards, every talk proposal would go through a review / mentoring process to ensure a win-win outcome for everyone. This is in response to the feedback from the post-meetup survey that we received.
As always, if you’d like to pick up any topic and present your learnings, please submit your name at http://bit.ly/vueblrcfp. We’ll help you with the content.
From the Community
- Remember the Function-based Component API proposal? After a long discussion and the feedback we collected from the community, it ended up rejected, but is now back, in a fully reworked form and is known as the Composition API. The new name suits it perfectly. You can read more about the proposed changes here. No breaking changes, no need to rewrite anything. Keep in mind this is still an RFC, which means your feedback is more than welcome.
There’s even a separate VuePress page with docs on how the Composition API would work, that I highly recommend you to read. - Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the sheer size of the Vue ecosystem? Which tools to pick, where to look for help and quality learning materials? The Vue Community Guide is aimed to help devs, both novice and experienced, by giving them a summarized and categorized source of information. Read the “The Developer’s Guide to the Vue Ecosystem” written by the Vue-Community creator Dobromir Hristov for more info.
- Quasar got bumped to v1.1.0! Here’s the changelog.
