📬 VueBLR—February Newsletter 💖
Heya folks! 👋
Well, I’m not gonna lie—2020 started off pretty rough due to the Coronavirus scare, the possibility of a WW3 and losing legends like Kobe and the mood around the world isn’t the greatest at the moment. But let’s all pitch in and pour out some love in this this month of February and try to turn things around. From our end, we had some great time meeting all the wonderful folks who attended the meetup and workshop conducted last month and we’re pumped to keep it going!
🥳 Congratulations to @pratikanthi & @VishwaMehta30 for winning the Vue pun competition and getting their tickets to the GraphQL Asia conference!
🔥 Upcoming Meetup: #24 Vue-lentine
Okay, we’re not really know for our dad puns (yet). But that shouldn’t stop you from attending the upcoming meetup. We have Jerric Lyns John speaking about his transition from Vue to Svelte. Svelte is an up-and-coming framework and has been gaining quite a lot of buzz lately so if you’ve been holding off on checking it out, this talk should be interesting to you. We also have Tarun Mangukiya who will talk about Using GraphQL with REST APIs for state management—by leveraging caching capabilities of REST APIs. Let’s gather and pour some love out for Vue.js and the community this Saturday!

🕰 Past Meetup #22 and Workshop #23
We kicked off the new year with #22: A New Day at Microsoft Reactor (which was a super-cool venue and amazing hosts—thank you!) and we had some great talks. Yours truly, showcased the power of Vue.js DevTools and how it is an invaluable tool while developing Vue.js applications. Our fellow core member, Nimit Bhargava talked about the wonderful world of Design Systems, why they’re important in the modern world and how you can get started building one in Vue.js. We had a nice interactive session that was full of energy and we hope for this to continue in the future sessions. Keep it up! 💪 If you missed it, don’t worry, we got you covered:

We also kept tradition by conducting our annual workshop series on getting started with Vue.js, dubbed Zero to One. We were hosted by GeekyAnts who are such an amazing bunch of folks for opening shop on Sunday just for us and providing all the facilities. Do check them out! Yours truly and Nimit Bhargava conducted the full-day session that went from the very basics of Vue.js to building a real-world application that fetched data from the web. We really enjoyed teaching folks and we are pumped that they are embarking on this journey in this new year. We sadly don’t have any recording from the event but if you are interested in future workshops on any levels, drop us a line via our handles listed at the end of this mail.
🌍 From the Community
- vue-enterprise-boilerplate: This is an opinionated project setup created by now former Vue core member Chris Fritz which is very actively maintained and contains a lot of useful structure that would scale well with large teams inside large organizations. Chris is responsible for a lot of contributions in the Vue ecosystem which spans from contributions to the core libraries as well as the amazing documentation that we all come to love.
- vuewatch.com: This is a nice collection of vue plugins available on GitHub, all in one single place, categorized, for easy browsing. They are also scored based on various qualities and I hope this will be a nice directory to bookmark when you want to enhance your Vue app.
- buefy: This is an awesome component library that uses Bulma.css for its beautiful and functional components and can be a great resource to build you next Vue.js application. I am a big fan of Bulma and this was to me, a love at first sight!
