The Patrologist news, September 2020
salvete, χαίρετε, hello
So, first a word about this actual newsletter. I’m trying to reorganise myself a little. You’re getting this either because you signed up to this newsletter, or you signed up to classes with me. I’m collapsing semi-personal professional news into a Patrologist newsletter, because that’s what we’re all here for, Patrologist-related news. You can always unsubscribe at the end of the email.
Upcoming Term 4 plans: October 11th
All my planned courses are now up and online at https://thepatrologist.com/shop/ and with a bit of an overview description at https://thepatrologist.com/2020/09/02/upcoming-courses-october-2020/
Let me know if there’s anything unclear or if you’d like to know more about any of the classes.
There’s a bit about 2021 plans here as well. I’m pretty excited about some of things I’m cooking up there.
Video Course: Part 1 Complete
I’ve been talking about doing a video course for over a year, and it turned out to be a much longer process than I’d ever considered. I’ve now 99% completed a single course, which is Greek 101 and covers Athenaze 1-8. It has videos covering each reading with explanations in English and with Greek-only treatments, as well as individual videos treating all aspects of grammar. Some of you have already been lucky enough to try it out.
There should be 3 follow on courses over the next 9 months, tied into my own teaching plans.
If you’d like to get access to this, there is a discount for email subscribers: use the code BUTTONUP to get it for $125 instead of $200.
LGPSI plans
I definitely have failed to make as much headway with LGPSI as I’d hoped this year. Switching to fulltime teaching has been great, but also exhausting in new ways. That’s one reason I’m planning to offer an LGPSI class this coming term - a chance to teach through the opening chapters but also spur myself on to further development.
Upcoming break time/vacation/holiday
Almost all my classes will be on break from Sep 26 until Oct 10th. I’ll be using the time to refresh, develop some new materials, and prepare for the term ahead, as well as some writing projects on my plate. If you’re continuing on in a class-series with me, feel free to get in touch and ask how I might suggest you use your time wisely between terms.
New initiatives
I almost hesitate to mention that I am doing anything new. Because, as you may have realised, I like to start lots of projects. And, while I also like to finish them, the rate of starting definitely outstrips the rate of finishing. So let me just say that I’m cooking up some new ideas.
Merchandise
Okay, very last thing. There have been some calls for SeumasU merchandise. Yes, it could be a real thing. Sometime in the not too distant future.
Stay well friends, try to avoid the apocalypse, and stay in touch.
