Month 15 Highlights
She’s fully a toddler now, and it’s mostly fun!
Toby takes one nap each day. Some people told me I, as the caregiver, would enjoy this milestone. I smiled and agreed and let my head say “but that’s fewer sleeps so it sounds worse.” I get it now, though. We have more time to do things in her wake windows (a phrase we can retire now), and the longer nap is noticeably different for me. I finish my little routine and I find myself with like an hour of me time.
All that teething last month has boosted her chewing ability, and I’ve noticed that she prefers bigger chunks of food, instead of bite-sized pieces. She’s eating like a big girl. She doesn’t want baby food, she wants to take her own bites out of bananas and muffins. And she wants to drink out of cups.
And this big girl really loves her some books! For one week this month, reading was our only play activity. Toby is very interactive with her favorite books: making faces, pointing and talking about her favorite parts, dancing with the singalongs, and flipping every flap.
My final note is just that Toby has become very communicative. It is not hard to know what Toby wants or is thinking. The best one is probably when she goes and knocks on the front door to tell us she wants to go outside. The worst is when we tell her we’re going to do literally anything other than what she wants and she just yells.
I let time get away from me a bit, and am writing this one almost a week late. I did my best, but some things from the first 1/4 of month 16 may have leaked in here. But as a teaser, you can look forward to hearing about Toby’s budding interest in astronomy!
