Recently we ramped up our crawling and indexing, meaning that every day we’re adding the equivalent of English-language Wikipedia (6.4-million) NEW pages to our index; that’s around 45-million new pages a week!
Our index is a core part of what differentiates Mojeek from many of the other options when it comes to search without surveillance. Technological independence is, in our eyes, the only way to guarantee that we can stick to our principles whilst building sustainable business over the long term.
We have built our technology stack from the ground up, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Once upon a time search was a web service relatively independent of browsers. We nudged ourselves to switch between websites offering search. Then Google came along with their brilliant and simple web search service. They cleverly nudged us into new habits. And like every empire they built defensive walls; most obviously with the Chrome browser, then Android.

By default we have infoboxes pop up in search results; these allow you to get some summary data from a relevant Wikipedia article and navigate over to their website if you so desire.
Some people prefer to find their information from more niche sources, or find these infoboxes distracting, and we completely get that. You can turn them off in the Search Settings segment of your Mojeek Preferences. View Preferences…
