Saving Daylight?
I remember when daylight savings time was a big deal. We had to prepare for it and remember that it was coming. We had to manually change all the clocks.
These days, clocks change themselves, most folks have switched out the old fashioned clocks that don't, and daylight savings time comes and goes without anybody even noticing it.
I sort of miss when it was a big deal because it marked the beginning of spring, or the beginning of fall, in a tangible way, having to change those clocks by hand. It was almost like a seasonal celebration and I've always liked seasonal celebrations.
What's it time for? Switching out your wardrobe for seasonally appropriate clothes. Barbecue out in the sun or backyard fire pit fun? With every season there's something to look forward to.
Now, DST is just a big nothing. Of course, at the end of the day, (lol) daylight savings time is kind of silly in a lot of people's minds. There are a lot of folks who think it's pretty damn silly and still others who believe there would be chaos without it.
Is it just man trying to demonstrate power over time? Is it a built in necessity to compensate for the Earth's rotation?
And then I start thinking about time itself and the theories surrounding it until just to calm myself I have to check in with my psyche and consider how I'm spending it.
I've spent time on this, my hope is that others will too and have some fun thinking about time. Then I'm filled with gratitude to anyone who has read it. A good nite to leave on until next time, when I'll be writing about...
