Book & Paper Arts Calendar Updates - October 20, 2020
Hello everybody,
After I sent out my last email update in September, Bill and I had a chance to go up to the mountains just south of Idyllwild, CA. Safely distanced and masked the 12 of us thoroughly enjoyed each others company and the food we brought up there alfresco. Stargazing was phenomenal as we were about 4,000 feet up! It was just lovely to see Jupiter, Saturn and the moon out but Mars caught me by surprise by being almost as big and as bright as Jupiter except with a ruddier glow! The constellations Cassiopea, Orion and the Big Dipper (I have the toughest time finding the Little Dipper) were easily visible as was Vega (will be the north star in about 13,000 years), Polaris (current north star), Rigel, Betelguese, ... that is all the star names I can remember and recognize without having to consult my StarWalk app! It was a nice break being out of the house! Of course that long and winding road up the mountain was also a treat to drive!
If you are going to be in the Monrovia area this Saturday, Oct 24, 2020, there will be an outdoor fundraiser for Hoving Home in Pasadena. There will be lots of retired and new Stampin' Up products and paper. You get to stock up on your paper related needs (ok, ok, wants) and all the money raised will go to Hoving Home. Did someone say the magic word, "paper"? If I purchase something it will be a win-win, yes? The time, date & address is in the calendar! Maybe I will see you there!
The BABA Virtual Book Arts Jam started Oct 1 and will run through Oct 31 with lots of free and on-demand workshops, speakers, galleries and a book arts market place; World Origami Days starts on Oct 24 and runs through Nov 11 (you can be taught by some of the leading origami artists of the world); and lots of Zoom meetings relating to the book arts and book arts organizations(please see the yellow entries in the calendar).
Hope you are staying safe, well and creative - Jade

About the calendar
Link to the calendar: https://teamup.com/ksd9e12a80c3878ba5 (If the link is not working copy and paste it to your browser)
There is no difference between Calendar 1 (blue entries) and 2 (red entries), just a way to visually separate in-person workshops; orange and light teal (also visual separation) entries are online workshops; light green ones are the latest workshops found since the last email update; purple entries are for festivals or conferences; yellow are public online meetings from various book arts guilds and museums
You can do a search (magnifying glass search button in upper right of screen) by state, town, instructor name, time zone, etc. If it is the calendar you can search on it. If one class is sold out search for a keyword to see if another is available, for example, "masu"
Monthly view is best viewed using a larger monitor with desktop/laptop. To change view look for Scheduler, Day, ... Month ... Agenda, List in upper right corner of screen and click on appropriate view
If using cell, mobile or smart phone change view to List, Day or Agenda view using button with the down arrow in upper right corner of screen
