Book & Paper Arts Calendar Updates - July 25, 2020
Hello everybody,
I hope everyone is staying physically, mentally and emotionally safe during this time of pandemic. I hope you are also making lots of wonderful and amazing things for others to enjoy. Perhaps you are like me and there are gaps in between making & creating where I add lots of videos to view in my Watch Later folder in YouTube. I won't even tell you how many videos I have there! However, I have been trying to attend Zoom meetings when I can - I even cleaned up the area where I sit for these meetings even though the camera is not pointing down! I even attempted a shelter in place collaborative project which turned my crafting area into a pile of failed templates of 3 miniature structures which were then tucked into a tri-fold brochure with pockets and flaps (more sad, failed templates) that was closed with a half circle in a slit. Multiplied by 6 and all less than 3"x3"! What was I thinking?!? In the end it was immensely satisfying to mail out the miniature structures protected by strips of mat board, washi tape and bubble wrap!
I was lucky enough to attend a Zoom meeting where I learned about the equipment you may need in order to start teaching online or recording your workshops. If you want to start teaching via Zoom there is a workshop being offered by BARN on Aug 18th. If you are looking for better lighting for Zoom check out that link under the "All things paper/books/tips/trips" section. How about writing your artist statement (Aug 25 & 26) and photographing your work (Oct 1 & 2)?
Hope you are staying safe and well - Jade

I have been an admirer of Graham Patten and he recently self-published his instructions on Lulu for his Continuously Convoluting Jacob's Ladder Carousel book! Here is the video on that book. I had asked about a workshop on this book but instructions will do in a pinch. Check out his portfolio on his website. I still love his Call Me TrimTab book - who would have expected to see sails in a book?
